Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has appeared to hit out at Jadon Sancho on social media after Sunday’s damning 6-3 defeat against rivals Manchester City.

The former midfielder took to social media after the derby to share a picture of club legends Ryan Giggs and David Beckham, with a caption to highlight how United wingers of yesterday used to help out their full-backs:

“Anyone remember when wingers used to help their full-backs?”

Scholes was clearly hitting out at Sancho and Antony for not working hard enough defensively against City.

It didn’t help United that both full-backs – Diogo Dalot and Tyrell Malacia – received bookings in the first half, and if you watch City’s first two goals you will see that Sancho was far too passive in his tracking.

Antony scored his second goal for the club in as many league games and is still finding his feet at the club, whereas the criticism of Sancho comes at a time he is being overlooked by England manager Gareth Southgate.

The entire team underperformed against City and deserved to be beaten. They need to pick themselves up because we have two must-win games to play this week.
