Benjamin Pavard refuses to say whether he is having the best period of his career at Inter, but is relishing the tactical role, ‘the fans are incredible’ and he hopes to remain for many years.

The defender joined the Nerazzurri following a lengthy negotiation process over the summer, with the club paying €30m to Bayern Munich despite the fact he had only one year left on his contract.

During international duty with France, he sat down with Telefoot to give an interview where he was told to give only the briefest of answers to the questions.

So when asked if he intended to remain for several years at Inter, he replied simply: “Yes.”

The same response came to whether he had become a better player at Inter and if the Nerazzurri would win the Scudetto this season.

There was a far longer answer to break the rules when asked if this was the best moment of his career.

“It’s not necessarily the best. But playing central defence is the role that I love the most and I left Bayern Munich precisely so I could play as a centre-back.

“I play in a back three at Inter and have the opportunity to be selected for central defence. I take everything there is to take. I am very happy, I discovered a marvellous country where the fans are incredible. The passion of the fans in Italy is incredible, it’s wonderful for me to be playing in Italy.

“Representing France makes me happy too and I try to do all I can.”
