Pep Guardiola confirms Manchester City's interest in signing Harry Kane

After losing Sergio Aguero to Barcelona this summer, it was believed that Tottenham's Harry Kane was Manchester City's top target. Even after landing Jack Grealish, it appears the club still has its sights set on the Spurs star.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola told reporters Friday that if Tottenham wants to negotiate a deal for Kane, the club is "very interested" in him and will try to sign him, according to Fabrizio Romano of Sky Sports.

Romano reported last month that Tottenham had "no intention to accept" Manchester City's initial £100 million offer for Kane. City may likely have to offer more money for the 28-year-old.

Kane has spent the last nine seasons with Tottenham, scoring 162 goals in 220 starts. It was reported that he would demand a transfer if the Spurs missed the Champions League in 2020-21, which they did.

In addition to Kane, Manchester City has also been linked to Lionel Messi this summer. The Argentinian won't return to Barcelona due to financial complications, and City's interest in the superstar has been known for a while.

However, Guardiola also said Friday that Messi "is not in our thoughts" right now, meaning the club is likely more focused on going after Kane this summer after signing Grealish.
