Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has provided an update on the status of Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden following Manchester City’s thrilling 3-all draw with Real Madrid. The game was a spectacular affair that was full of highlights at the Bernabeu. Coming out of the game, there were two major injury concerns for the European champions. Pep Guardiola addressed the status of two of his key players post game.

Eyebrows were raised pre-game when Kevin De Bruyne was named on the bench. It was revealed after the starting lineups were announced that the Manchester City legend was suffering from an illness. Guardiola was asked about De Bruyne’s condition post game. He told the media: “In the last meeting in the hotel he was playing. He didn’t say anything to me. But he started to feel bad and bad. Vomiting when he arrived. He didn’t feel good to play.”

Eduardo Camavinga accidentally trod on Phil Foden, leading to his substitution late in the second half. It was a concern for Manchester City to see Foden hobble off. But Pep Guardiola played down any concerns over Foden when he told the media: “It’s a knock. He was grumpy with me when I made a sub, which means he is ok.”

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be hoping to have Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden for Saturday’s match against Luton Town. Saturday’s game at the Etihad is another big game that is crucial to Manchester City’s chances of lifting this season’s Premier League title. Attention will now shift to Pep Guardiola’s pre-game press conference on Friday for a further update on the pair closer to Saturday’s must win match for Manchester City.
