James Maddison
The former Leicester City man started this season as arguably, the best player in the league. With three goals and six assists in the first 10 games of the season, Maddison showed scintillating form and rewarded his early believers, amassing 63 points in that opening spell, averaging 6.3 points per game. Since his return from injury in January, he has put up a respectable 15 points in four matches, bagging two assists in this time.
While he has looked decent since returning, he is slowly playing his way back to full fitness, and the fact that he is getting points despite not playing to his best is encouraging for owners. At £7.9m, he is better value for money than Manchester United duo Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford as well as Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.
Richarlison
The Tottenham number nine has had a season of two halves. Before groin surgery in November, he recorded just one goal and three assists in 10 appearances. Since his return from injury, he has looked like a completely different player. His overall play improved but more importantly, in an FPL context, his goal contributions did as well, with 9 strikes in 12 outings. What’s more, the Brazilian was performing as an out-of-position (OoP) striker! Meaning that he is listed in the game as a midfielder but lined up as a forward during this spell.
Playing for the team that has scored the sixth most goals this term (despite being without a number their first choice attackers during the majority of the campaign), Richarlison in this form as a striker is almost a cheat code at £7.1m
Heung min Son
Mentioned for his historic haul in the introduction, the South Korean belongs in FPL folklore. One of the best finishers the game has ever seen, Son has a whopping 142 points from 21 starts this season. The Tottenham skipper started the year on the left wing, but when he was moved to a more central role, he really shone.
He has recorded 9 goals and two assists, starting as the centre forward and Richarlison’s mini break in form could lead to Son being reinstated to his most lethal position. Averaging 6.5 points per match is an excellent return for a player who is priced at under £10m. What’s more, Son has consistently demonstrated iconic finishing ability and is undoubtedly a world-class player so not having him on your team is always a risk.

Based on ability and form, Son would be our pick, simply based on his inevitability.
