AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli will put his trust in Luka Jovic from minute one against Empoli this afternoon, hoping for a response from the striker as he continues to play for his future at the club.

As Calciomercato.com write, Jovic is back available after serving the two-match ban imposed by the Sporting Judge following the red card that he received during the 4-2 defeat to Monza, which prevented him from taking part in the matches against Atalanta and Lazio.

The Europa League – a competition in which he has already left his mark in the away game against Rennes and collected another 24 minutes in the first leg match against Slavia Praha – was the parenthesis that allowed him to maintain a good psycho-physical condition.

Jovic is battling to earn a stay at Milan, too. He arrived on a free from Fiorentina on deadline day last summer, and Milan have the option to renew his deal until June 2025 and then again until June 2026.

He has five league goals but four came off the bench, so today is an opportunity for the former Real Madrid man to demonstrate that he can lead the line when employed from the start, like he did in the 3-1 win over Frosinone when he got a goal and an assist.
