AC Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega is getting very close to returning from injury much sooner than was initially expected.

As has been reported by Pianeta Milan, the Italian midfielder will soon be back in training which means a return to the pitch is on the horizon.

Pobega has been out since December 17 when Milan beat Monza 3-0. He suffered a very serious tendon injury which later required surgery, meaning he was at risk of barely featuring again for the rest of the season.

The estimated recovery time for that surgery is four months, but Pobega should be back in group training next week. This will be a relief for Stefano Pioli who will find an extra midfield option very useful when it comes to managing the Europa League fixtures and the rest of the Serie A campaign.

He will continue playing with the Primavera squad whilst also training with the first team so that he can get up to speed as quickly as possible.

The Fiorentina game after the international break is going to come too soon, but he could be available to face Lecce on April 6. That leaves 10 games, including the Europa League legs against AS Roma, for Pobega to help the team.
