Cesare Casadei has been named on Chelsea’s bench for tonight’s game against Liverpool.

This confirms the suspicions that his loan at Leicester, which had been going well, was only terminated because it’s considered important he comes back into the squad. That’s not only to give some depth in midfield (which seems unnecessary considering Carney Chukwuemeka is back from injury and Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu will soon join him.

This tells us that Pochettino has probably been unhappy with the standards in training leading up to this point, and that was likely something passed on to the sporting directors. Otherwise Casadei would be still at Leicester, increasing his transfer value by playing and getting goals his value is now just €10m (TM).

So let’s hope Pochettino is right, and Casadei helps lift things behind the scenes as well as adding some extra depth.

It probably also means fellow recalled loanee Andrey Santos will soon be on the way out.
