Police Scotland arrest two men charged with racist abuse toward Celtic's Kyogo Furuhashi

Rangers Football Club announced Monday that supporters found guilty of directing racist abuse at Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi was banned indefinitely from all Rangers games.

According to Sky Sports and the BBC, Police Scotland arrested two men in connection with the alleged racist acts against Furuhashi.

A video posted on social media last Sunday showed individuals wearing Rangers shirts singing at least one racist song and making offensive eye gestures about Furuhashi while traveling for what became a Rangers victory at Ross County. An official police statement reads:

"Police Scotland has arrested and charged two men in connection with an alleged hate crime directed towards a Celtic Football Club player following reports of a video circulating online that officers were made aware of on Monday, 23 August, 2021. The men, one aged 30 and one aged 26, have been released on an undertaking and are due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court at a later date. A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

According to an update offered by Sky Sports two weeks ago, 11 arrests were made following investigations of online racist abuse directed toward England's Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka following the UEFA European Championship final in July.
