Portland Thorns-OL Reign NWSL match postponed due to wildfires

Wildfires that have spread on the west coast forced the National Women's Soccer League to reschedule Tuesday's match between the Portland Thorns and OL Reign.

In its official statement, the league said:

"The National Women’s Soccer League has postponed tomorrow’s match between Portland Thorns FC and OL Reign due to the continued air quality concerns in the Northwest region, the league announced today. The match has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 30, at 7 p.m. PST at Providence Park."

Per Graham Hays of ESPN, the game was originally scheduled for Sept. 12 but was moved to Sept. 15 due to air quality issues.

Portland is now set to open the NWSL Fall Series against the Utah Royals on Sept. 20, but that match could be relocated or pushed back depending on the situation in Oregon. OL Reign won't play until they face Utah on Sept. 26.
