Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the Brighton and Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma in recent months.

Back in July, the Athletic reported that Tottenham are one of the admirers of the 26-year-old Japanese winger who has been outstanding for Brighton in the Premier League.

Mitoma recently scored a phenomenal goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers and he is highly rated in England.

Speaking on the Stand podcast with Eamon Dunphy, Liam Brady has now heaped praise on the 26-year-old Japanese winger.

Brady has likened the Brighton winger to the Manchester United legend, George Best.

The way the 26-year-old picked up the ball on the halfway line and dribbled past a number of players before slotting it home, reminded Brady of the way Best used to play.

“He really does his homework and they have sold a number of players, but this Mitoma, what a goal that was. He reminded me of George Best, picking the ball up on the halfway line, running past the halfway line, beating three or four players and slotting home,” Brady said.

Mitoma is unlikely to leave Brighton this summer and it will be interesting to see if the Seagulls are prepared to cash in on him at the end of the season.

Brighton have nurtured a number of talented young players in recent seasons and they have sanctioned the departures of Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister and Robert Sanchez earlier this summer.

Roberto De Zerbi is unlikely to weaken his squad any further and the likes of Spurs will have to wait for another season to sign players like Mitoma if they are truly interested in the Japanese winger.

Tottenham could certainly use a trickster like the 26-year-old and he would add some much-needed unpredictability and flair to their attack.
