Sevilla have reportedly set their asking price for defender Jules Kounde this summer, and Chelsea should be encouraged by the fee.

It’s a saga that has been going on and on for the last year now, with Chelsea trying but failing to sign the French international last summer. This summer it looked like being a lot more straight-forward, but even now it has been dragging on once again with Sevilla holding out for a fee closer to his release clause.

Sources: Latest on Richarlison, Sterling, Dembele, and others to Chelsea.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the fee being asked actually seems quite reasonable to me. He claims that they would accept 65 million euros for Kounde, who has a release clause of 80 million euros.

So in pounds that is just under £56m, which for me is a fair enough deal. Chelsea were reportedly only looking to pay up to £45m, so a £10m difference isn’t much in the grand scheme of things to land their top target at the back. Get it done, Chelsea!
