Antwoine Hackford, a rising talent, has recently inked a fresh deal with Sheffield United. This comes three years after his inaugural appearance in the Premier League for the first team.
Hailing from Arbourthorne, Hackford expressed his gratitude, describing it as ‘an honour’ to extend his contract for the next two years. Inspired by the success of Andre Brooks, who has secured a regular spot in the Blades’ midfield under the leadership of Chris Wilder, Hackford aims to make similar strides in his career.
Despite being introduced to the first team by Wilder against Crystal Palace in 2021, Hackford has faced challenges in securing regular playing time. His development has been hindered by a series of injuries. Nevertheless, he made appearances as a late substitute in the first two games of the current season against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. At that point, Sheffield United was still in the process of finalising their recruitment for the summer.
The 19-year-old told the club website: “I am delighted to have signed, and I know now that I need to push on in these next two years to earn the next contract. Being born in Sheffield and being involved in the setup since I was nine, it is an honour to have been handed this opportunity and to be in a position to keep representing my boyhood club.”
Hackford is one of many promising youngsters that Sheffield United currently have which highlights the excellent job the club’s youth system has done over a number of years.
