Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly monitoring the situation of Napoli wingback Mathias Olivera ahead of the winter transfer window. The Uruguayan arrived in the summer of 2022 and proved significant for Luciano Spalletti’s Scudetto-winning team last season. However, his stay might end up short in the South of Italy.

As per Le10Sport (via TuttoNapoli), PSG sporting director Luis Campos has been eyeing the Napoli left-back over a winter move, with coach Luis Enrique reportedly desperate to strengthen his options on the left flank. Lucas Hernandez is heading the position at the moment, but Enrique supposedly wishes to onboard a solid player who can compete with the Frenchman.

Rudi Garcia currently has just two options in the left-back position, with Portuguese fullback Mario Rui the other player vying for the role. So far, it has been Rui who has taken up the lead, with Olivera shuffling with the Portuguese for the starting position.

Olivera, who just turned 26 yesterday, has made 50 appearances for Napoli so far.

Our Take on Olivera and PSG

If PSG put forth an apt offer for the €18M rated fullback, as per Transfermarkt, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him move. However, with the Partenopei short of options in that role, they will have to take measures to fill the void left behind.
