Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti opened up his career playing in Italy. Verratti featured in four seasons with Serie B side Pescara before completing a permanent transfer move to PSG.

Verratti has since played in 11 seasons with PSG, and he will not be leaving the club anytime soon. The Italian international signed off on a two-year contract extension deal with the club in December.

Speaking to Sky Sport ahead of the Italy national team’s upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying matchup against England, Verratti was asked about the possibility of one day returning to Italy to play club football, and he did not completely shut down such a scenario.

“Who knows,” Verratti said. “I’m very happy at PSG and my mission and my dream is to win the Champions League at Paris. I will keep fighting.”

Verratti was on the pitch during PSG’s last two Champions League eliminations, where the Ligue 1 side crashed out in the round of 16 both times. The Italian midfielder had a performance to forget in PSG’s Champions League second leg loss to Bayern Munich earlier this month. For one, he gifted the Bundesliga powerhouse a goal moments after he lost possession in his side’s defensive third.

Verratti is set to feature for Italy on Thursday for the first time since its 2-0 international friendly loss to Austria in November.
