Kylian Mbappé was pivotal in Paris Saint-Germain advancing over FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. The team from the French capital secured a 4-1 win in the second leg (6-4 on aggregate) against the Catalan side, securing their spot in the semifinals.

Mbappé secured the win with two goals. He scored the first from a penalty kick in the 61st minute and then added an insurance goal in the 89th minute. The brace also put the Frenchman in elite company, joining two former AC Milan standouts in the process.

Squawka highlights that Mbappé has now scored the same number of Champions League goals as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Andriy Shevchenko (48). Ibrahimovic scored nine goals in the competition during his tenure with AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Shevchenko had 29 goals during his tenure with the Serie A giants. Furthermore, the statistical outlet notes that only eight players in Champions League history have more.

The 25-year-old has an opportunity to add to his tally when the Parisians take on Borussia Dortmund, a team they’ve already met in this tournament’s group stage. Both teams recognize the significance of performing at their best, as the winner will clinch their spot in the final at Wembley Stadium.
