Christian Pulisic explained his growth in Serie A and the trust he’s given at Milan compared to his difficult spell with Chelsea.

The 25-year-old American winger has shined since joining the Rossoneri last summer for around €20m, instantly becoming a core part of Stefano Pioli’s squad in the Lombardy capital. He has scored 13 goals and provided eight assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

Pulisic is now a certainty for Milan heading into the summer and his growth in Italy will come as good news for the United States national team, who are gearing up for their North American World Cup in 2026.

Pulisic growth

Speaking to ESPN, Pulisic was asked about his growth and development since joining Milan last summer.

“I think I’ve grown a lot here, I’ve actually been surprised by how difficult a lot of the games are in this league. I think it’s been a great test for me, but it I think it just comes down to just being given the opportunities here.

“I’ve had a lot of time on the field to show what I can do, and I’ve been given a creative role and a lot of freedom as well at times, which has been a huge part of getting that self-belief and confidence back.”

He was then asked about the most difficult thing to adapt to.

“The language is always the hardest part, when you don’t speak it at all.”

Pulisic emerged as an exciting talent at Borussia Dortmund but struggled to show his best at Chelsea as he handled various injuries and a lack of trust from his coaches in West London.
