Raheem Sterling has admitted that he would be open to the idea of leaving Manchester City.

Sterling was in and out of the Man City starting XI last term, but kept his place in Gareth Southgate’s team heading into Euro 2020.

That wasn’t a particularly popular decision among the fans, with Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka all sitting out at the expense of a player who had a so-so campaign.

However, Sterling absolutely justified his inclusion by Southgate by being one of the top performers in the tournament – and a major contributor to England reaching the final.

Having returned to Man City over the summer, Sterling has been brought back down to Earth by Pep Guardiola’s reluctance to field him in attack, and it seems as though he’s had enough.

Quoted by the Guardian, Sterling, in no uncertain terms, admitted that he could be forced into leaving the champions for a new opportunity, potentially away from the Premier League.

“If there was the option to go somewhere else for more game time I would be open to it … As an English player all I know is the Premier League and I’ve always thought: ‘You know, maybe one day I’d love to play abroad and see how I would come up against that challenge.'”

The rumour mill will now be turning between now and the January transfer window as media publications speculate where could be next for the former Liverpool winger.
