Manchester United’s Raphael Varane is through to the World Cup quarter-finals with France.

Les Bleus saw out a 3-1 win against Poland this afternoon thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe.

A late penalty cost Varane a clean sheet after an outstanding performance in which he produced a goalline block to keep the score level.

The reigning world champions look set on lifting the lucrative trophy again this year and are becoming major favourites to win the tournament, as they have netted nine goals already.
