Raphael Varane has played his first competitive game since October 22.

The 29-year-old played 75 minutes as France secured qualification to the World Cup Round of 16 after defeating Denmark 2-1. He faced fellow Red Christian Denmark on the pitch.

It was great to see the centre-back back in action after the lengthy injury he sustained in action for United last month, which kept him out of club action until the international break.

The reigning champions are aiming to retain their status as the best international team by lifting the lucrative trophy again, and they’re looking like major favourites as they are the first side to progress to the next round of the competition.

Hopefully, Varane can enjoy a successful tournament and continue to build his fitness and confidence before returning to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils next play on December 21 in a Carabao Cup tie against Burnley, however, Erik ten Hag will be giving international players seven days of rest when they return from Qatar.
