Real Betis and Marc Roca have made little secret of their desire to continue together next season, and now they have run the numbers on an agreement. The Leeds United loanee will have to wait and see how his parent club’s promotion push plays out.

Roca, 27, took to Betis like a duck to water, and immediately won a starting spot under Manuel Pellegrini. The second half of the season, and the return to fitness of Guido Rodriguez coupled with the arrival of Johnny Cardoso has seen him warm the bench more often, but with the former likely to depart this summer, Roca is in line to compete for a starting spot again next season.

As per ABC (via ED), Roca has agreed terms and a length of contract with Betis ahead of a return this summer. If Leeds stay in the Championship, then the clause in his contract that ensures he must be allowed to leave on loan will come into place again, and he could return in that capacity. If Leeds are promoted, then Roca has an agreement in place, and Betis must find one with the Yorkshire club.

Roca has also been used as an emergency centrla defender this season. While his importance has declined, he did help Betis break on opponents well earlier in the season. Having joined from Bayern Munich two summers ago for €12m, it remains to be seen how much Leeds will demand.
