Real Madrid beats Liverpool 1-0 in UEFA Champions League final
Real Madrid only took four shots in the UEFA Champions League final, but that's all the team needed to secure a 14th title with a 1-0 win against Liverpool.
The lone goal of the game came in the 59th minute when Federico Valverde found Vinícius Júnior all alone for an easy finish at the back post.
The only other ball to find the back of the net in the match also came from Real Madrid. But what looked to be a goal from Karim Benzema just before halftime was disallowed after a lengthy review determined he was narrowly offside.
Liverpool couldn't beat Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois with any of the nine shots put on goal, as he made diving saves to deny both Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah.
Real Madrid has now won the Champions League 14 times. No other team has won more than seven titles. The club won three straight finals between 2016 and 2018, but failed to reach the final in the next three years.
