Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is backing Croatia teammate Ivan Perisic to make a full recovery from knee surgery.

Feedback from Tottenham suggests Perisic could miss the season and be a doubt for Euro2024 in Germany.

Modric said, "We are in contact. We have spoke to each other. It is a big blow for us. We know how much Ivan means to us.

"However, knowing his character, his habits, I believe he will return in the right way. It is difficult to say when the most important thing is that he returns healthy.

"There is no need to hurry; we will wait for him as long as necessary."
