Paris Saint-Germain will have to prepare for life after Kylian Mbappé this summer. The Frenchman intends to leave once his contract expires in June, and many expect him to join Real Madrid as a free agent.

As a result, PSG must approach this summer with the idea of building a team that can compensate for the team’s lack of big-name players going forward. One expert questions whether, with the 25-year-old heading to join Los Blancos, the Parisians can continue this dominance in Ligue 1.

Since Qatar Sports Investment took over in 2011, the capital club has had a stranglehold on the league, with AS Monaco and LOSC Lille being the only clubs to win in Ligue 1 in the last few years. Nonetheless, Pascal Dupraz questions that, without Mbappé, PSG might be vulnerable in the league.

“The French league is quite challenging,” Dupraz said (h/t Le10Sport). Just ask Lionel Messi, arguably the world’s best player, if he found it easy at PSG… Winning the title is a big deal for PSG. It’s the culmination of the entire season and could set them up for a Grand Slam. Plus, it marks the last championship with Kylian Mbappé. It’s uncertain whether Paris will maintain its dominance without him.”

While the French giants might lose Mbappé to Real Madrid, they’ll still have sporting advisor Luis Campos and manager Luis Enrique at the helm, which bodes well for the club. They’ll have an executive with a keen eye for talent and a coach who can get the best out of them.
