Real Madrid's Eden Hazard apologizes for laughing with Chelsea players after Champions League exit

Eden Hazard became a household name and an international superstar among those in the football community during his seven seasons at Chelsea before he made the move to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the summer of 2019. He's largely failed to meet expectations with Real and further irritated supporters and also some within the club when he was seen laughing with Chelsea players after Los Blancos were bounced from the UEFA Champions League by his former Premier League team on Wednesday.

Hazard took to his Instagram story on Thursday to apologize for his actions seen by a worldwide audience:

Before Hazard offered a statement, ESPN's Rodrigo Faez and Adriana Garcia reported one Real source called his post-match antics "intolerable" and added: "Eden has enough experience to not have that attitude when the cameras are on him."

While some have suggested Hazard could be shown the door during the upcoming summer transfer window, the Real source told ESPN he likely will receive a "slap on the wrist" punishment.

Real trail La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid by two points in the table with four matchdays remaining.
