Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil defended his players after their 1-0 defeat at home to Osasuna.

Ante Budimir struck the winner after halftime.

Imanol later said: "Although it hurts us and it is repetitive, anyone who has seen the game will not say anything but that Real has been far superior to Osasuna in play and chances generated, but they have been better than us in finishing.

"It is easy to generate so many scoring situations for Osasuna, from above and below, reaching the baseline but, if there is no success, it is difficult to win."

He also said, "What the team has done has a lot of merit and value, everything we have generated is outrageous, but we are leaving with a 0-1 because we have not been able to score a goal and they, in the only one they have had, in one of their strengths, which is the set piece, we have conceded a goal.

"As long as I continue watching games like this, I will continue saying that this is the way. I would have liked to win and for the fan to have gone away even with a rout, which at times would have been the fairest thing, but..."
