New York Red Bulls forward Dante Vanzeir will miss the rest of the regular season after sustaining a lumbar spine injury on Wednesday against Austin FC, the club announced Friday.

Vanzeir, 25, started eight of his 19 games for the Red Bulls this season and collected two goals and one assist.

The native of Belgium played in 24 games across all competitions and scored five goals, including two in the team's 2-1 win over Atletico de San Luis on July 30 in the 2023 Leagues Cup.

The Red Bulls (7-12-10, 31 points) played to a 1-1 draw against Austin FC. New York visits D.C. United on Saturday.
