Joao Cancelo can light up any football pitch, having done so with some of the biggest teams in European football that are recognised worldwide.
In January, the Portuguese international left Manchester City in a move that no one saw coming except the men directly involved.
The loan move to Bayern Munich was agreed upon, and as with most transfers like this now, an option-to-buy clause was included.
According to reports from Calciomercato, it is increasingly looking like the Bundesliga champions will not be taking up the chance to take Cancelo to the Allianz Arena on a full-time basis.
Other reports claim that Julian Nagelsmann, the Bavarian's manager, sees Cancelo as a 'typical' full-back unsuited to the current team.
This comes after an impressive start to Cancelo's Bayern career, contributing two assists in his first two appearances and starting the next three games against VfL Bochum, Paris Saint- Germain and Borussia Monchengladbach. Still, he has become a substitute in the next fixtures, including their 2-0 victory in the Champions League second leg against PSG.
Pep Guardiola seemed to have left the door open for a return to the Etihad for Cancelo when announcing the move.
"He [Cancelo] left because he always wants to play all the games, I wish him to do it in Germany for the next four months, and then I don't know what will happen next season."
Cancelo has not publicly expressed his disappointment but is described as "frustrated" with the current situation of not playing regularly.
When it comes to the end of the season, and if Cancelo returns to the Etihad stadium, Calciomercato also mentions that Chelsea or Real Madrid could be possible destinations in the summer transfer window.
