Report: Colorado Rapids dealing with coronavirus outbreak
The Athletic's Sam Stejskal reported on Monday that Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids are in the midst of a coronavirus outbreak.
At least two players and nine staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 since last Thursday.
The Rapids and MLS canceled Sunday's scheduled game between Colorado and Sporting Kansas City after Colorado discovered that one player and three staff members tested positive for the virus.
Colorado defeated the San Jose Earthquakes last Wednesday and then trained on Thursday before temporarily halting activities. The Athletic reports that all 11 individuals who tested positive attended the win over San Jose.
Jeff Carlisle of ESPN added that the staff members who returned positive tests are from the club's technical side.
Colorado's training remains suspended, and it's unknown when players will return to the pitch amid daily coronavirus testing. The Rapids are currently scheduled to play at the Portland Timbers this coming Saturday and then host LAFC on Oct. 7.
The states of those fixtures are in question as of Monday afternoon.
The Rapids are fifth in the Western Conference table.
