As Liverpool look to reconstruct their deflated midfield department, the rumour mill of potential incomings is in full motion.
Following the departures of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner upon the expiry of their contracts, the reds have been consistently tied with midfield targets who could refresh the engine room heading into next season.
Khephren Thuram, Gabri Veiga and Ryan Gravenberch have all reportedbly been favoured to join recent addition Alexis Mac Allister in completing a summer switch to Anfield, but a more expensive name continues to be mentioned.
According to a report from ElNacional.cat, Liverpool are ready to make a big money move for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.
As Real Madrid continue to persue Kyian Mbappe, who is out of contract at PSG at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, they weigh up potential outgoings to make room for the Frenchman.
"The possible recruitment of Kylian Mbappe would cause many chabges to the squad, since it would be necessary to make room in the starting eleven. Also we cannot forget the signing of Jude Bellingham."
With Jude Bellignham recently being added to the list of Real Madrids excellent midfield options, many surrounding Madrid "place Fede Valverde as the main candidate to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, espically after the proposal they recived from Liverpool.
It must be remembered that Jurgen Klopp already tried to take him away the previous summer."
With Klopp reportedly keen on Valverde, the reds are now lining up a move to bring the Uruaguyan international to Merseyside.
"At Anfield they already have 90 million euros ready, a proposal very difficult to refuse, and which would make him one of the most expensive footballers in history.
Madrid will have to asses the pros and cons of retaining Valverde, who could be the 'sacrifice' necessary to sign Mbappe."
