Liverpool attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho is 'closing in' on a loan move to the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig according to David Lynch.

Carvalho signed for the Reds last summer after impressing in helping Fulham get promoted back to the Premier League but endured a frustrating first campaign on Merseyside.

His career at Anfield got off to flier with a goal in the 9-0 victory over Bournemouth and that was followed up by a dramatic injury-time winner against Newcastle United just four days later.

Despite a promising start to life at his new club, however, he failed to nail down a regular spot in Jurgen Klopp's squad thereafter, spending several months on the side-lines.

Speculation began shortly after the season ended that the 20-year-old could be on the move this summer and even a permanent transfer had not been ruled out.

According to Lynch however, he will now spend the season on loan at the Bundesliga club who will be playing Champions League football despite the interest of Premier League clubs including West Ham United, Brentford, and Burnley.

The Merseyside correspondent for Football Insider also suggests that details of whether the move will include an option to buy Carvalho at the end of his loan spell is still to be finalised.
