Aymeric Laporte has been linked with a move away from Manchester City this summer and if he does end up leaving the club City will look to try and sign RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol.

Links surrounding Gvardiol have went quiet in recent weeks but it can't be forgotten that the Croatian defender was promised a big move this summer, and City are one of the clubs hoping to sign him.

The Blue's however are not alone in their interest.

As reported by the Times Sport, Manchester City are set to target Josko Gvardiol this summer if Aymeric Laporte leaves the club.

Laporte has been targeted by Barcelona in recent months and if the Spanish club can find the financial means to sanction a deal Laporte could definitely be playing for the Catalan giants next season.

The Spaniard has had an injury hit season, only featuring 21 times in all competitions for the club all year, and it may be time for both parties to go their separate ways.

Gvardiol has been a long-term target for Manchester City and the club are set to renew their interest this summer as they look to strengthen the best side on the planet even further.

The Croatian has a release clause in his contract of £97million but it does not become valid until 2024. Manchester City could have to pay more than £100million to land the defender this summer.

Laporte could be sold for a fee of around £30million.
