Manchester City's interest in Mateo Kovacic is concrete, and there are big chances the Croatian will sign for Pep Guardiola's team in the coming weeks. Chelsea are not expected to offer him a new deal.

Kovacic has just one-year left on his deal at Chelsea and no talks have took place to change that. Chelsea will not lose him on a free, so the most likely scenario is a transfer.

The Croatian has spoken about his future in a recent interview.

In an interview with Croatian publication Nacional HR , Mateo Kovacic had this to say on his Chelsea future.

"Everything is leaning towards leaving Chelsea after 5 beautiful years, but in football anything can happen." "I have one more year in contract with Chelsea. Season was very bad."

The expectation is that Kovacic will leave, and he spoke about the club he could join in the interview as well. It seems he's an admirer of Manchester City.

“Manchester City is a 'top' team and deserves to be in the Champions League final. That's what I have to say. The summer is long, we'll see what happens,"

City's interest is real and talks are underway between the club and the player. Chelsea are likely to look for around £40million to sell Kovacic, but Chelsea will hope to get that fee closer to £30million.

The future of Kovacic is expected to become much clearer after he is done international duty with Croatia.
