Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for a strategic move in the upcoming transfer window, setting its sights on potential targets to bolster their squad.

Recent reports suggest that Spurs are eyeing a move for Brentford’s striker Ivan Toney, signalling their intent to address their forward line.

According to sources from GiveMeSport, Tottenham could ‘test the water’ by making a £45 million bid for the English striker, as they seek a successor to their legendary goalscorer, Harry Kane, who departed for Bayern Munich last summer in a record-breaking Bundesliga transfer deal.

Toney, 28, has less than eighteen months left on his contract with Brentford, expiring on June 30 of the following year. With no indications of an extension, it’s expected that the he will be on the move this summer.

While Chelsea remain a strong contender for Toney’s signature, Tottenham hold an advantage in promising sustainable minutes in the first-team, a factor that could sway the decision in their favour.

Additionally, Chelsea’s financial constraints may necessitate player sales before they can make significant signings, potentially giving Spurs a clearer path to securing Toney.

The Brentford striker emerged as one of the top goalscorers in the last Premier League campaign, netting 20 goals in 33 league games, placing him among the top scorers in the division.

With a current market value of €50 million, Toney could fit well within Spurs’ budget, offering a promising option to lead their attacking line.

However, Tottenham may face stiff competition in their pursuit of Toney, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United also showing interest.
