Tottenham Hotspur wants to improve their midfield, but they want to add a player that will be the backbone for the position, which is why they have their eyes on AC Milan’s Franck Kessié.

However, Kessié is reportedly heading to FC Barcelona. Nonetheless, no pre-contract has yet to be signed, and Tottenham is ready to hijack any handshake agreement the two sides might have.

Sport reports that the north London club has already presented a compelling offer to the midfielder and could win the bid with a high salary and transfer bonus.

The Spanish media outlet doesn’t add what type of figures Tottenham could be offering the AC Milan midfielder. Barcelona remains in a tight financial situation. If Spurs present wages too rich for them, the Premier League club could land Kessié if he’s looking for a significant salary increase.

Kessié opted not to leave the Italian club last month and honor the remaining months of his contract and leave as a free agent.
