The 2024 Olympics will occur in Paris, and Kylian Mbappé has already made it known that he desires to be there representing his country. However, could the French capital see two former Paris Saint-Germain players?

Argentina is vying to qualify for the Olympics this year. Should the South American nation punch its ticket to Paris, Javier Mascherano, coach of the Argentine U20s, would like Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria to be part of the team.

Mascherano was teammates with Messi at FC Barcelona and part of the Argentina national team alongside the two players. So, if there’s anyone who could convince the two veterans to give up their summer, it might be him.

“In the event of qualification, it would clearly be a source of pride for us to be able to have two world champions and this type of players,” Mascherano told TyC Sports (h/t Foot Mercato). “There are players who deserve to decide certain things. And clearly, Leo and Ángel are part of it.”

Both players have their gold medal from the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. As a result, it could be a long shot to have these two players return to France. Nonetheless, having them there for the next generation of players will be a valuable experience should the team qualify.
