Wingback Juan Cuadrado is getting close to a return to training for Inter Milan after months on the sidelines recovering from surgery.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that the former Juventus and Chelsea veteran should be back in the next week or two.

Cuadrado has not played a terribly significant role for Inter this season.

The Colombian completed one of the surprise moves of last summer in Serie A. He joined on a free transfer after eight seasons with Juventus.

Cuadrado’s strong association with the Bianconeri made the transfer a controversial one.

But in truth, the 35-year-old’s displays on the pitch have hardly been worth all that fuss.

This is certainly not the result of any lack of quality on Cuadrado’s part. The ex-Juventus man remains one of the most technically gifted wide players in Serie A on his day.

And Cuadrado had shown that in flashes for Inter over the first half of the season.

However, the veteran wingback dealt with tendon problems throughout the campaign.

This led Cuadrado to undergo surgery to correct the injury once and for all. He went under the knife in December.

Juan Cuadrado To Return To Training For Inter In Next Week Or Two

After Cuadrado underwent surgery, Inter decided to intervene in the transfer market.

The Nerazzurri signed Canadian international wingback Tajon Buchanan in January.

Buchanan will certainly be the long-term replacement for Cuadrado. It looks virtually certain that the Colombian will be headed for the exit door this summer after one season.

But Cuadrado could still play a part in the run-in for Inter.

The 35-year-old will not be available for the Nerazzurri’s next match, against Empoli on Monday.

But Cuadrado could be back in time for the following match, against Udinese the following week.
