The contract renewals of Inter Milan stars Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella have been put on ice due to the current Suning-Oaktree situation.

The Nerazzurri have been working on extending the deals of their captain and vice-captain, pushing back the deadlines from 2026 to 2029.

In recent weeks, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio met with the two players’ respective agents, Alejandro Camano and Alessandro Beltrami.

But while the parties have been making progress in the negotiations, the new deals are now on hold.

According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the ongoing situation between Suning and Oaktree is derailing the signatures.

The club owners must repay the loan they took from the American investment company before May 20th 2024 or find another solution to remain at the club’s helm.

So as the Turin-based newspaper notes, all major operations are on hold as we wait for the situation to unfold.

The source adds that Lautaro’s new contract will see him pocketing 9 million euros per season plus bonuses. As for Barella, his new deal should deal should earn him 7M per year.

Therefore. we’re talking about comprehensive figures that will impact the club’s budget.

Inter Milan Put Lautaro Martinez & Nicolo Barella Contract Talks On Hold Amidst Uncertain Suning Future

Moreover, Tuttosport insists that Inter would have to raise transfer funds from sales if they’re looking to sign Albert Gudmundsson.

As for Simone Inzaghi, the club will only launch renewal talks once they secure the Scudetto title. This is based on the manager’s own desire, claims the source.

Nevertheless, the Nerazzurri consider the 47-year-old’s contract extension as a club priority, especially with his current deal expiring in 2025.

The source also warns Inter that others could take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the club by trying to lure the tactician away from Appiano Gentile.
