BBC Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand had 90 minutes to come up with a suitable description of Italy’s performance against Turkey. It clearly wasn’t long enough.

Ferdinand, who is usually seen providing punditry on BT Sport, was drafted in to be part of the BBC’s team for the Euro 2020 tournament, and even got the nod to cover the opening fixture between Turkey and Italy.

Roberto Mancini’s men showed the continent why they have to be considered among the favourites to go all the way in the tournament, picking Turkey apart at the Stadio Olimpico and comfortably winning the three points.

It was the perfect way for Euro 2020 to get underway, with the Italians putting on a show. Rio Ferdinand was clearly impressed, but struggled to find the words to express that.

This was the best that he had…

Even Jamie Carragher, one of Ferdinand’s punditry rivals, couldn’t resist taking to Twitter to poke fun at the Manchester United legend’s bizarre wording.

It’s probably for the best if Rio stays off Twitter this evening – and perhaps he ought to go home and read a thesaurus.
