Out of England’s World Cup squad, Roberto Carlos believes only Spurs striker Harry Kane and Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold would make the current Brazil squad.
Brazil and Argentina are the two main favourites to win the tournament.
Brazil has assembled a squad with incredible attacking talent, including Neymar, Gabriel Jesus, Vinicius Junior, Antony, Richarlison, Raphinha, Everton Ribeiro, Rodrygo, Gabriel Martinelli, and Pedro.
Other Premier League stars such as Liverpool duo Fabinho and Alisson amongst others are also going to star in the team, but Carlos believes that two England players, Tottenham striker Kane and Liverpool defender Alexander-Arnold, will make Brazil’s starting XI.
The legendary full-back who won the world cup with Brazil in 2022 when asked who from England would make the Brazil XI, told The Telegraph:
“Alexander-Arnold has to be there – because he’s among the best ones.
“Kane is a good player too.
“You have a good team, not just in terms of names but in terms of players who have trained well and are ready to play at a World Cup – or to play for the Brazilian national team.
“I’d say those two [Kane and Alexander-Arnold], but there are more.
“There’s a lot of quality in the England team. You have a lot of quality.”
Brazil’s performance in the last two World Cups has been particularly disappointing. They with thrashed 7-1 by Germany in the 2014 semi-finals and were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Belgium in 2018. But Carlos is hopeful of a successful campaign this year. He added:
“The Brazil national team, both men’s and women’s, has always maintained a joyful atmosphere.
“They should understand that’s the only way to keep people happy, enjoying a great World Cup, having fun and bringing great joy to this country; Brazil, a football country.
“We haven’t won it for a long time, now it’s time to win the trophy. It’s a very special moment for football.”
