Roma are dealing with plenty of issues in the back and are the latest Serie A team tipped to have Jakub Kiwior in their crosshairs. The Pole was recently linked to Milan, which also have a void to fill in the back. He’s director Tiago Pinto’s favorite target for the position, Il Messaggero informs.

The youngster transferred from Spezia to London for a sizeable figure last January but has mostly held a backup role. The Giallorossi are still in the dark concerning Chris Smalling’s return from injury. He might not be able to recuperate from his tendon inflammation during the current international break either.

On top of Kiwior, Roma have Tottenham’s Eric Dier, Genoa’s Radu Dragusin, and Basel’s Finn van Breemen on their shortlist to address the position. Marash Kumbulla will return from his ACL tear before the next transfer window. However, they’ll lose Evan N’Dicka for a while because of AFCON.

The Giallorossi don’t have much room to maneuver due to their Financial Fair Play restrictions and might have to complete a sale to foot an addition.

Our Take on Roma and Kiwior

The deal would most likely happen on loan, perhaps not even with an option to buy, and would be a solid short-term fix given his quality and versatility. However, their problems in the back aren’t only immediate. They are in a pretty pickle and might have to make a sacrifice in other roles to solve it.
