Romelu Lukaku has claimed that the Saudi Pro League could become the best domestic competition in world soccer within two years.
A nationwide recruitment drive saw the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Karim Benzema, Riyad Mahrez and Sadio Mane join Saudi clubs last year.
More superstars are likely to arrive in 2024, with Lukaku himself expected to be targeted in the summer.
Lukaku was in Saudi Arabia this week to play for Roma in a mid-season friendly game against Al-Shabab.
Belgium's all-time leading scorer - who is currently on loan at Roma from Chelsea - scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory in Riyadh.
Lukaku spoke to Riyadiya TV after Wednesday's game when he was asked for his thoughts about the Saudi Pro League project.
He replied: "For me personally, I think in the next two years it could be one of the best leagues in the world, if not the best.
"Right now they are doing a lot of investments and bringing the bigger players into the league. The teams are improving. They are playing a very good quality of football. There are good coaches as well.
"So I think in the next two years, three years, I think they will be one of the top leagues in the world. It's a very exciting time."
The interviewer then said to Lukaku: "Maybe we will see you here in Saudi?" The grinning striker responded: "Definitely."
Lukaku's loan deal with Roma will expire in June but he is still under contract with parent club Chelsea until 2026.
