Romelu Lukaku has been spotted in Chelsea training for the very first time since his return to the club.

Lukaku initially departed Chelsea back in 2014, signing for Everton on a permanent basis. The Belgian went on to play for Manchester United and Inter Milan before completing a move back to Chelsea last Thursday.

The 28-year-old was not involved for Chelsea in their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace over the weekend, but is expected to be in the squad for the trip to the Emirates on Sunday, having taken part in training today.

Lukaku was filmed walking out onto the Cobham training pitches alongside Trevoh Chalobah, the brother of Nathaniel Chalobah, with whom he shared a close relationship with during his first stint at Chelsea.

There is a sense of ‘homecoming’ about Lukaku’s return to Chelsea, with the player clearly having a great deal of affection for the club.

Lukaku seemed settled at Inter Milan, with whom he’d just won the scudetto. He would not have left the San Siro if an offer which he couldn’t refuse didn’t present itself.

Unfortunately for Inter, it did in the form of a contract offer from Marina Granovskaia. Lukaku signed along the dotted line and the Nerazzurri have suddenly become part of his past.

The man who he walked out with today, Trevoh Chalobah, may well be the face of Chelsea’s future, though.

He has proven in games against Villarreal and Crystal Palace that he belongs at this level, with the name ‘Chalobah’ having its own place in the history of Chelsea.

Nathaniel Chalobah was hardly a Chelsea legend, but he was a Chelsea youth captain who graduated to the first-team and won the Premier League under Antonio Conte.

Trevoh will be looking to follow in his brother’s footsteps in that regard.
