Daniele Rugani scored a last-gasp winner against Frosinone, but his agent insists his future at Juventus is not up to him. ‘Will the club call us’ to discuss a new contract?

The central defender had a rare start in the absence of Danilo and made it count, pouncing on a flicked-on corner to drill in from a tight angle and decide the 3-2 victory on Sunday.

He made only 14 appearances this season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, surprisingly contributing three goals to the team, despite playing in the back three.

Rugani is only under contract with Juventus until June 30 and there seems to be no discussion about an extension.

“Juve have always been very positive towards him. As far as we are concerned, we are totally open to a renewal and can reach an agreement,” agent Davide Torchia told TV Play.

“The question we need to ask now is: will the club call us?”

Rugani started in the Empoli youth academy and joined Juventus in 2012, having been on their books ever since, save for some loan spells at Empoli, Stade Rennais and Cagliari.

The centre-back will turn 30 in July and has seven senior caps for Italy.
