Newcastle United had a game plan to deal with their fancied French opponents on Wednesday.

The Magpies recorded a famous Champions League group stage win at home, beating Paris Saint-Germain 4-1.

Defender Fabian Schar, who scored the fourth goal, admits the team focused heavily on PSG's front four while preparing for the game.

Schar told Chronicle Live: "No - it was the perfect night for the whole club. We all just enjoyed the game and the night. I just think we played brilliantly over 90 minute and we knew how difficult it could be.

"But we know what we had to do. We had to be defensively spot on against their front four and I think we did it brilliantly.

"We did well as a team against their front four. St James' Park was incredible and there are no words."
