Sergio Aguero could join Argentina backroom staff for World Cup

Star Argentina striker Sergio Aguero sadly had his career halted in October and later ended after he was diagnosed with a heart condition that made him unable to compete at the highest level at the age of 33.

According to Adriana Garcia of ESPN, Aguero is in talks with Lionel Scaloni about joining the Argentina coach's backroom staff for this year's World Cup that begins on Nov. 21.

"I want to go to the World Cup," Aguero explained. "I spoke to Scaloni. He called me ... the lads as well. We are looking to have a meeting this week and see what can be done. There is the idea that I could be a part of the backroom staff. If I go, I would be able to be with the players and be in the training sessions."

The one-time Premier League Golden Boot winner first complained of chest pains playing for Barcelona during a match on Oct. 30. He announced his retirement on Dec. 15 and ultimately had a chip inserted that monitors his heart.

"If my heart accelerates, the doctors know," he said. "I have a chip inserted. The other day I was running on the treadmill, and I played a game of football tennis and I ran out of breath. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be able to sprint again. I am scared."

As Jonathan Smith noted for Goal, Aguero retired holding the Manchester City goal-scoring record (260 goals) and as the club's most decorated player with five Premier League titles, one FA Cup, six Carabao Cups, and three Community Shields on his City resume.
