Serie A has officially secured five Champions League spots for 2024-25, which means Juventus and Milan are almost certain to qualify, while Lazio and Napoli still have a low chance.

Italian football earned an extra spot for the 2024-25 Champions League thanks to Roma, Atalanta and Fiorentina’s qualifications for the Europa League and Conference League semifinals.

Round 33 begins on Friday with Genoa hosting Lazio at Marassi and Juventus visiting Cagliari in Sardinia. The Bianconeri now have a 12-point lead over 6th-placed Atalanta and even if La Dea have a game in hand, Max Allegri’s men are pretty much certain to qualify for the 2024-25 Champions League.

The same is true of Milan who are six points above Juventus and +17 on Atalanta with one more game than La Dea.

Bologna, Roma and Atalanta remain in the race for the remaining two spots, while Lazio and Napoli have a remote chance of finishing in the top five, being six points below 5th-placed Roma.

Bologna have 59 points in 32 games, and Roma and Atalanta have 55 and 51, respectively. The Giallorossi and Nerazzurri have played 31 matches, but Roma don’t really have a game in hand as they must only recover circa 20 minutes from their away match at Udinese which was called off on Sunday after Even Ndicka collapsed on the pitch.

On the other hand, Atalanta must play the entire game against Fiorentina at the Gewiss Stadium.

Bologna and Roma will meet in the next round on Monday at the Stadio Olimpico, while Atalanta will visit Monza on Sunday.
