Salernitana look to Jerome Boateng, Marco Pellegrino and Boulaye Dia against Empoli’s Szymon Zurkowski in a relegation dogfight between the bottom two.

It kicks off at the Stadio Arechi at 19.45 GMT.

These teams are propping up the table, as Salernitana sit rock bottom on 13 points, with Empoli currently on a par with Cagliari and Verona on 18.

There was a boost for Pippo Inzaghi’s side with the 0-0 draw away to Torino and the slew of new players signed during the January transfer window.

They include Boateng, who made his debut from the start last week, Pellegrino on loan from Milan and Alessandro Zanoli from Napoli.

Kostas Manolas also signed today as a free agent and the former Roma defender is on the bench, though five of the starting XI tonight were mid-season buys.

Dia is finally able to start after weeks of injury problems and Lassana Coulibaly has returned from the Africa Cup of Nations, but Federico Fazio, Norbert Gyomber and Triantafyllos Pasalidis are out.

Empoli have Sebastian Walukiewicz suspended, plus Francesco Caputo, Razvan Marin and Tyronne Ebuehi on the treatment table.

This is a return to the Stadio Arechi for coach Davide Nicola, who famously saved Salernitana from almost certain relegation.

He hopes to do the same for the Tuscans, earning a win over Monza and draws against Juventus and Genoa since taking over last month.
