Cesare Casadei is being shopped around to find him a loan for the season with preseason now complete, and it seems there are two clear front runners.
Leicester are desperate to bring him in, led by their new coach Enzo Maresca, a fellow Italian. Despite Casadei’s likely preference for top flight football, it seemed increasingly possible that he was going to be talked into going to a dominant Championship side and developing there.
But now we hear from various sources including Fabrizio Romano that Genoa are in the mix and asking for the 20 year old. It would allow him to return to his native Italy, and would allow him to play in a top division. It’s not clear yet what Chelsea or the midfielder prefer.
Casadei was notably left off the squad number list, confirming what we’ve heard in recent weeks – that he will be the one loaned out, while Andrey Santos stays with the first team.
