Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea’s young midfielder, Andrey Santos will leave the club on deadline day. He is set to join French club Strasbourg on loan for the rest of the season.

Chelsea’s Andrey Santos to Join Strasbourg on Loan

Andrey ‘Has Approved’ the Transfer

The Blues will send their young talent out on loan to the Ligue 1 side. The Brazilian was recalled from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest earlier in January. Andrey was not getting the opportunities Chelsea would’ve hoped at Forest and had only managed to make a single appearance in the Premier League in his six-month stay at the club.

The lack of playing time posed a threat to Andrey’s development as a result, the Londoners have recalled the “beast” player and are set to send him to another destination. Romano wrote on his social media handle: “Andrey Santos will leave Chelsea today in order to join Strasbourg on loan, deal set to be confirmed. Andrey has approved the move”

Chelsea and Strasbourg Sister-club Connection

The two clubs have a unique connection as they fall under the same ownership and management. The Premier League and Ligue 1 clubs are sister clubs as they both are part of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital-owned multi-club network under the BlueCo umbrella.

Chelsea are essentially using the Ligue 1 club to nurture their youngsters. Strasbourg also benefit in the process as they get their hands on highly talented youngsters from the London club.

Angelo Gabriel, a talented young winger is also currently on loan from the Premier League giants at the French outfit. He has become a regular under manager Patrick Viera. Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping the same is the case with Andrey as it will accelerate his development.
